In celebration of Black History Month, we continue to honor Black history and heritage by highlighting a few of our remarkable Black board members who are shaping and leading our organization.
Today, we are proud to shine the spotlight on David A. Sanders, a dedicated leader whose work in education and community development has had a lasting impact on the West Side of Chicago and beyond.

David A. Sanders is the President of Malcolm X College at City Colleges of Chicago, where he oversees the success of over 15,000 students. Under his leadership, Malcolm X College has maintained its accreditation with the Higher Learning Commission. David’s career spans decades, and his experience showcases success across multiple leadership roles in education and community development.
Beyond his role at Malcolm X College, David Sanders’ dedication to his community is evident in his position as a board member of West Side Forward. Through this role, he has continued to invest in the West Side of Chicago—working to create opportunities for economic growth and educational advancement for local residents.
As we continue our celebration of Black History Month, we are proud to highlight David Sanders as a leader whose contributions are making a significant impact on the West Side of Chicago.
