In honor of Black History Month, we’re taking the opportunity to celebrate Black heritage and history by spotlighting a few of our esteemed Black board members who have played an instrumental role in shaping and leading our organization.
It’s a time to reflect on their incredible contributions, and today we’re proud to shine a light on one such individual: Edward Coleman.
Edward Coleman’s journey has been marked by groundbreaking achievements that have shaped not only his industry but also his community. As an alumnus of Purdue University, Edward co-founded the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)—an organization dedicated to increasing the number of Black engineers and providing crucial resources, support, and networking opportunities for Black professionals in engineering nationwide.
Before leading West Side Forward, Edward Coleman served as the President and CEO of Bethel New Life. In 2019, Edward transitioned into the role of President and CEO of West Side Forward, where he continued his commitment to fostering economic and community development.
Edward Coleman’s leadership extends beyond just our organization. Throughout his career, he has been a vital force in shaping various prestigious organizations. Though Edward Coleman officially retired from his position at West Side Forward in 2023, his influence and legacy continue to resonate in the work he leaves behind.
As we celebrate Black History Month, we are grateful for leaders like Edward Coleman, and we are honored to have him as a part of our board.
