In our continued celebration of Black History Month, we are honoring Black history and heritage by shining a spotlight on a few of our Black board members who are making an indelible mark on our organization and the broader community.
Today, we’re proud to highlight Melanie Mosley, a trailblazer in the world of STEM and an advocate for expanding opportunities for Black professionals in engineering.

Melanie Mosley is a distinguished engineer and the President Emeritus of the National Society of Black Engineers – Chicago (NSBE Chicago). Through NSBE, Melanie has played a vital role in promoting diversity in engineering, ensuring that Black engineers have the resources, networks, and opportunities to succeed in a field where representation has often been lacking.
In addition to her work with NSBE, Melanie is also the President of The Chicago STEM Foundation, an organization dedicated to providing educational resources and fostering pathways for students to pursue careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
Her advocacy for STEM education goes beyond leadership roles—she has been actively involved in organizing and hosting events across the Chicagoland area, bringing together students, educators, and industry leaders to spark interest in STEM careers and provide hands-on learning experiences.
As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, we are proud to honor leaders like Melanie Mosley, whose lifelong dedication to increasing diversity in STEM and empowering the next generation of engineers is paving the way for lasting change. Melanie’s work is a testament to the power of representation, mentorship, and advocacy—and we are thrilled to have her as a member of our board.
Stay tuned for more spotlights as we continue to celebrate the incredible contributions of Black leaders in our organization and beyond.
