March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate and honor the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. This month provides an opportunity to reflect on how women have shaped and continue to shape various sectors and industries, making lasting impacts across the globe. As a women-led nonprofit, we understand the importance of recognizing the trailblazers who pave the way for future generations.
One such trailblazer is Roxanne Charles, the President of West Side Forward, a role she has excelled in since taking on the position. Roxanne’s journey is a testament to the power of dedication, leadership, and community impact.
Empowering Communities and Leading Change
Roxanne has been with West Side Forward since its inception in August 2019, initially serving as the Chief Engagement Officer. Roxanne has decades of experience in community development, nonprofit work, and business empowerment. She has consistently worked to engage communities, foster partnerships, and empower individuals, proving time and time again her commitment to assisting others.
Her work spans beyond West Side Forward. Roxanne has served on several nonprofit boards across the Chicagoland area and actively participates in numerous community task forces. Her decades of public service demonstrate her deep-rooted passion for supporting and uplifting others, especially within underrepresented communities.
Leading West Side Forward to New Heights
As the first woman president of West Side Forward, Roxanne has led the organization through groundbreaking moments, driving pivotal partnerships with state and federal organizations. Under her leadership, West Side Forward has secured critical funding that has supported and expanded vital programs designed to strengthen the community and foster sustainable change.
